Mole & Tag Removal
A mole or skin tag is a cluster of skin cells that can appear anywhere on the body. Usually brown or black in colour. The majority tend to be benign (not cancerous). Your GP will advise on this.
Unfortunately most GPs will not treat benign moles or skin tags anymore meaning you have to look at alternative options.
Treatment
Treatment is normally quite straight forward. There are normally two ways of treating:
- Surgical excision. The area is numbed normally with cream. A scalpel or a sharp, circular blade is used to cut out the mole and some healthy skin around it. The skin is then closed with stiches.
- Surgical shave. This is done more often on smaller moles. After numbing the area, the doctor will use a small blade to shave off the mole and some tissue beneath. Stiches are usually not required.
