Stretch Marks
About 80% of adults have stretch marks. Child birth, puberty and loss or gain in weight can also cause stretch marks. When the skin suddenly stretches, it causes the collagen bundles under your skin to tear away from each other. So when the skin returns to its usual state (i.e., when it stops growing), it can look wrinkled and lined, because it’s not supported by the same collagen structure underneath.
How can we help?
By combining our expertise with our state of the art clinical led treatments we are able to tailor make a plan that will help lighten and substantially diminish sun stretch marks in many cases.
Using a CO2 Laser and/or Radio Frequency can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Both of these promote growth of the collagen structure which is a proven method of reducing stretch marks. Depending on the severity, body area and skin type/colour we will asses which treatment or combination will get the best results.
Having the right equipment along with the knowledge, expertise and experience is SO important to ensure the optimum result is obtained.
Our treatments
The Fractional CO2 Laser takes the CO2 laser beam and fractionates, or pixelates that beam into thousands of tiny little shafts of light. These tiny shafts of light penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin. The skin then repairs those tiny shafts by pushing out the old damaged skin and replacing it with new skin. The “collateral” heat damage also helps to shrink existing collagen.
Radio Frequency works by heating the area to a certain heat temperature, which leads to an immediate contraction of collagen fibres and at the same time increases the metabolism of the fibroblasts thereby accelerating the production of new collagen and elastin fibres. Producing a tighter, smoother healthier looking skin with a visible reduction in wrinkle depth and appearance. More information can be found here.
